Why El Clasico is the Biggest Derby?

El Clasico is a competition that derived from the Spanish civil war. The story behind this was the rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona, which are the two largest cities in Spain. These cities are different in culture, politics, and behavior. Here, Real Madrid viewed as picturing Spanish nationalism and Barcelona viewed as picturing Catalan nationalism. These two clubs are the most successful and richest club in the world. Both clubs have a global fanbase; they are the world's two most followed Football teams on social media.

Battle Between a Royal Class and Labour Class

The outcome being when Barcelona is victorious it is seen as a rebellious victory for an independent regional culture while a win for Madrid represents the establishment asserting its authority. Such as a result of this football match that the conceptual and political clash that exists between the two sides has the power to not only divide the supporters of these two clubs but also the Spanish nation as a whole. I think no other football match has a bigger strength on the outcome of a nation than El-Clasico. Most of the other derbies, including Red derby, are driven by the passion of the fans. For others, it is just a football match, but for people in Barcelona, it is a virtual war for independence for the Catalans.

Some Strands for controversy between them

Di Stéfano transfer

Di Stéfano is an Argentina Star, who was playing for a club in Colombia, and had impressed both Barcelona and Real Madrid. The rivalry was magnified during the 1950s when both the team planned to sign him.
It was an remarkable move when Di Stefano ended up signing for both clubs, but in the end, former Real Madrid president Santiago Bernabeu influenced him to choose his side over Barcelona. The rest is history.

Royal Real Madrid

When we look at the emblem of Real Madrid,  there's a crown. Real (meaning "Royal" in Spanish) was given to the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920. During the Spanish Civil War, the crown was dropped from the logo, and "Real" was omitted from the team's name, thus going back to just Madrid FC.

Luis Figo and Pig's Head

Florentino Pérez was one of the Real Madrid president candidates and promised that he will sign Barcelona Vice-captain Luis Figo if he won the election. Figo's agent confirmed the deal, but Figo rejected it and he told his teammates that he will stay in Barcelona. Perez won the election and Figo was forced to move to Real Madrid because If the player broke the deal, he would have to pay Pérez $30 million in compensation. Even though 21 players have moved from Barcelona to Real Madrid, only 12 of them played against Barcelona. 13 players have played on both sides of El Clasico during their careers, it includes Luis Enrique, Bernd Schuster, and Luis Figo, who was welcomed back to Camp Nou in 2002 with a pig's head thrown at him by an enraged Barcelona fan.

Leo Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo

This is one of the best rivalries which we are witnessing in this modern time and the best thing about this is, both of them played against each other for more than 20 times.  They have won ten Ballon d'Or/FIFA Ballon d'Or awards (5 each), both are widely regarded as the best players of all time. They have a race between them for scoring the maximum number of goals in a season and they finish in first or second position.
